Of course, we appreciate the effort and the results of the Paper, in order to bring the ideas to actions without loosing the concept. There is an easy confusion between promoting difference or working together. You can “use” for example exotic artists to underline your cosmopolitan look, avoiding any contact with the exotic populations you have in your own town.

From my lang experience working with non natives and natives I have come to the conclusion that a solid bridge Intercultural Communication and dialogue is really needed. The Rainbow Paper can be a solid start to reach this difficult/easy aim. I now believe that Intercultural education does not change society but the nowadays changing society is the one that can chane and give a shape to this intercultural education and dialogue. The real dialogue is the medal which has two sides..when this dialogue is established the whole society may profit out of it..let's follow this example via this Paper

Philip Hosking, CERES, 2008/10/29 21:31

It's all good as long as the intercultural dialogue is between the actual cultural groups as opposed to state censored descriptions of culture.

Do we want the French or British states describing and speaking for the indigenous national minorities they contain or are we going to let them speak for themselves.

Tim Weedon, The Modern Soul Academy, 2008/11/03 16:11

“Authentic representation” is greatly needed in Europe in order to truly address intercultural dialogue. If the people or groups are not represented there is no dialogue.

Natalia Volchenko, KuciCreaVision, 2008/11/05 13:27

Let's come together from the “year of intercultural dialogue” towards “year of innovations in the field of culture and art”. Hopefully it will be better for all creative people…

Bonjour,

Philip Hosking, Celtic League, Cornouailles/Cornwall/Kernow UK, 2009/03/14 13:55

Sabine Frank, Platform for Intercultural Europe, 2008/11/20 15:05

… and for those who don't understand French: we simply don't have the resources to work in several languages. The translation of the Rainbow Paper into French and German was at least a gesture.

Natalia Volchenko, KusiCreaVision, 2008/11/18 11:43

gottfried wagner, ecf, 2008/11/18 12:20

On the process: hundreds “only” have signed up by now …. Why? On the other hand, many signatories (organisations) have many members, e.g. Kulturpolitische Gesellschaft (Germany) has 1500! Could you make this clear in the PR strategy of the campaign? There are many more questions on the process, however, now its also about numbers!

Sabine Frank, Platform for Intercultural Europe, 2008/11/20 15:11

The Kulturpolitische Gesellschaft has actually done their best to spread the word about the Rainbow Paper, but it's true: it would be welcome if other organisations played their 'multiplier' role to the full!

Natalia Volchenko, KusiCreaVision, 2008/11/21 15:09

I mean that “language problem” for people from Odessa (South Ukraine) is not issue. In fact, the main item is “What is the Heart of the Matter?”

Caridad rojas, Producciones Malvhadas, 2009/02/13 18:01

In order for this to happen intercultural dialogue we need to constantly exhibit what wonders other cultires with hold, with hold not by choice if not for lack of, and this is where we combined and introduced interculutral dialogue or at lease a very succesful way of doing it , which is through huge and happy events. Unfortunately we let poltics get involved in somthing they know nothing of anymore (the diversity and beauty of cultures) we need to promote this and stop using the excuse that we cannot for lack of funds,Institute Cervantes and many others must stop funding comercial culture and start supporting the very back bone of this new adventure and expense that goes behind bringing all types of artists and music that reprent their very own culture to introduce into OUR society and those that surround all of us.

I have developed the concept of PAX Convention without knowing the existance of Rainbow Paper and it was a nice discovery indeed.

Planet Art eXchange (www.pax08.com) is a transnational community building project that uses art, culture and science to address cultural, religious, racial, socio-economic and health and well being divides. In its inaugural edition to be organised in Liverpool between 4 and 8th April, PAX CONVENTION (paxconvention.com) will aim to create a cross-disciplinary policy paper that would set the pace for addressing the cultural divide collaboratively.

I believe that our project complements the Rainbow Paper as it gives it its local dimension without jeopardising the transnational side.

antonio catalano, 2009/04/01 18:45

the Rainbow paper reflects a large movement, made by hundreds of organizations all over Europe. But still I don't see which practical consequences can raise from it. There are already several instruments by the EC for intercultural activities, is your aim to increase them? or do you want to create new instruments? and which one? Don't let us drown in empty words.

I have an initial project for intercultural and multilingual dialog, what you can check here: www.babelmatrix.org (unfortunatly the link doesn't work here) where you can find several bilingual anthologies. Babelmatrix idea Literature plays a great part in learning about the cultures of each other. Thanks to the efforts of literary translators, literature is transmitted from one language to the other. The Babel Web Anthology offers only a glimpse into the huge bulk of literary translations, but if you click on the BABELMATRIX MAP on the top of the page, you can start your literary adventure enjoying the literatures of Europe in your mother tongue!

Look at it!

tomy hanks, 2009/04/02 10:34

natalia volchenko looks very intersting in this project thanks but who will fund nd support??i feel it's a utopian project and will confront with the real…bad real, sorry,,,

Natalia Volchenko , KusiCreaVision, 2009/04/02 11:25

Thank you dear Tomy Hanks! As far as I understand you like Ukrainian language. Am I right? By the way Tomy Hanks works with Julia Roberts? Let's do concrete steps and please read a Rainbow paper with care, because my impression that some people do not understand “what is the heart of the matter?”, in fact.

Natalia Volchenko , KusiCreaVision, 2009/04/02 11:27

Especially for “Tomy Hanks” my response dated of November 21, 2008 (pls see above) Let's come together from the “year of intercultural dialogue” towards “year of innovations in the field of culture and art”. Hopefully it will be better for all creative people…

Culturel Ignorance = Fear = Violance

Radu MIHAILEANU, 1 rue Saint Hubert, 2009/04/17 12:29

Visual communication is the foundation of humanity- Words and phrases can confuse- Images convey a deeper understanding of culture- However, the responsibilty of; And the individual artists moral integrity are vital if the images shown to the viewer are positive. Contemporary art is unfortunately infected with deconstructivism and dis-affirmation theories promoted by self-proclaimed intellectuals who view Art as a means to:- Provoke or Shock - the viewing audience, believing that this approach 'brings awareness'- Their thinking is that Art should be used as tool for nihilistic creation (therfore pushing the boundries of Art) It is a restricted and an exhausted train of thought and has prooved time and time again not to have helped improove any society or made a 'difference whatsoever. It seems it is up to the individual Artist (who disagree with a nihilistic and cynical approach to Art) to ensure that Affirmative Art has an equal opportunity to make itself 'seen' using with visual-positive-dialogue in the public arena.

The future of humanity is in cultural pluralism, where diversity is seen as basic human asset, uniting us through mutual respect and inclusion.
